Style tips for women

I created these free style tips for women because I believe in not only helping you to choose the right clothes but also giving you the tools to be your own stylist. These tips are universal and work for all women. You can read them in your spare time and they also help us save valuable time for shopping.

• Treat your body as a whole – your outfit should not look like it’s breaking your body it 2 different parts – top and bottom.

• You should always start creating an outfit or look with the basics. For a woman the basics are always either a skirt, trousers (jeans) or a dress. If you don’t get you basics right, no matter how wonderful or expensive your top or handbag is, the whole outfit won’t be quite right.

• Getting the basics right is the most vital and difficult step in creating a wardrobe. The fit is the most important thing with the basics – it has to be perfect and flatter your body shape. It should neither be too tight or too loose and also the right length.

• The quality of the fabric and the workmanship of the garment are other essential factors. Even if you haven’t got a big budget, it’s important to buy things that last more than one season.

• Once you have the right basics, matching tops and shoes becomes an easier and much clearer task. Tops should always be in the most flattering colours for your complexion and shoes should be as comfortable as they are beautiful.

• Adding accessories is where the real fun begins. This is also what makes your look up-to-date and fashionable. Accessories can make even the most basic outfit interesting and also take you from day into night in just 5 minutes.

• Although black can look very chic , it’s overused and overrated. Bring some colour back into your life and you’ll feel and look amazing! Very often you go to a party and 5 out of 8 women are wearing all black!

• Navy and dark grey (or charcoal) are a great substitute to black and look fantastic with white. They are classy colours that never date and are perfect for the office.

• Always buy jeans and trousers longer – your legs will instantly look longer. They should come down almost to the floor and if you wear high heels , you should allow for that.

• Most women buy the tops that are too short for them and cut their body very high in half. A longer top, shirt or jacket in most cases looks better as it elongates the body.

• Less is more. Women sometimes try too hard and overdo things. If the dress is fantastic very often all it needs a pair of high heels (and maybe a pair of oversized earrings). It doesn’t need a necklace and over-the-top bag as well.

• Don’t buy the things that feel too fussy for you or your lifestyle, it will only frustrate you and you are never going to wear it . If you‘ve got an impatient toddler you don’t need a dress that takes 40 minutes to iron.

• If you ever find a top, skirt or jeans that are the most flattering and perfect fit for you, buy it in 2-3 different colours. It saves a lot of time and you will always feel good wearing it.

• Most women dress too old and conservative for their age, especially after they have children. I am not suggesting everyone should wear miniskirts, just remember there is life after kids and it should be fun!

• Try only to buy clothes that make you go “Wow!” when you try them on. If it’s just “alright”, walk away from it! You might have less clothes in your wardrobe, but you will love wearing every single piece that you own.

• Don’t worry much about what other people say or wear, know who you are and what works for you and follow your intuition! We all have it and it never fails!

• Dare to be different and bring your personality into the way you dress. If an outfit is too predictable, it’s usually boring!

• Don’t be afraid to mix designer pieces with inexpensive items and accessories, it’s much more interesting and edgy and also very liberating! Even legendary Coco Chanel mixed real pearls with fake ones!

• Every woman has something that never fails to lift her mood and make her feel beautiful. It might be as simple as a pair of high heels or a red lipstick! Ask yourself what it is for you and use it as often as you can in your everyday life.

• Your style is constantly evolving and changing just like you are.
Some people have a more innate sense of what looks good, but almost anybody can learn and develop their own style with a little bit of desire and some help from a personal stylist!

• A good hair cut and a little make-up goes a long way. Use brown eyeliner and eye shadow instead of black as it looks more subtle and natural! A little bit of blush will make you look fresh and healthy !

• There is no need for heavy powder or foundation in the Queensland climate, but a tinted moisturiser with SPF 30 is a must. I recommend Sunsense Daily Face Mat Formula or Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear (this comes in 2 colours). If you wear it every day, in 10 years time you won’t have to spend money on Botox!

• Another quick fix trick is to use Mineral Bronzer. Nude has great products created specifically for Australian climate with high natural SPF. One of the main ingredients is Zinc Oxide so it’s suitable for even the most sensitive skin types.

• If you can’t be bothered with eyeliner, just put on lots of mascara, tinted moisturiser with SPF and a little blush and lipgloss. This will only take 5-7 min but you will look and feel great!

• Every woman is beautiful and should feel good about herself. Love yourself the way you are because it’s impossible to look bad when you feel good!
