Before and After
Case Study 2 - Leanne Robinson
Case Study 1
Andy Russell, Samford
I’d done a wardrobe assessment with Andy before we had a shopping trip together. His wardrobe felt outdated (a bit stuck in the nineties), the colours were not flattering and the quality of fabric could be better. Also colours and patterns of his shirts and ties were mismatched. The picture on the right shows one of his typical outfits. He had a black and white check pattern on his shirt and some navy/blue wallpaper design on his tie, the trousers were grey, but shoes and belt were brown! knew straight away that his wardrobe needs to be brought up to date and that he would look and feel a lot better if he had the clothes that work in his favour!
A few days after Andy’s wardrobe assessment we had a shopping trip together. Andy works at Suncorp in the CBD. We met up during his lunchbreak and I showed him a few possible looks. In the end he bought a pair of navy trousers, 3 shirts in blue, very pale green and lilac and 3 matching ties. He had 3 new outfits for his work that were modern and yet very classic. I loved the way he looked in all 3 outfits but my favourite look is in a pale blue shirt with a burgundy/navy tie. It really flatters his olive skin complexion and dark hair. Navy trousers also look great and are a bit more sophisticated than the usual black uniform.

Case Study 2
Leanne Robinson, Strathpine
Before
Leanne studies at Tafe, works at Pizza Capers at night and goes out with her boyfriend. Like most young people, she leads a busy lifestyle and her budget was limited. Because her clothes had to be practical and comfortable, she lived mostly in black leggings and different tops.
She wanted to look and feel good but did not want to spend too much time looking in the mirror or ironing complicated dresses – nothing too high maintenance!
After
Leanne and I had a shopping trip and I showed her how she can make a little effort in her everyday life that will go a long way. I helped her to create very simple, almost effortless outfits that will make her look and feel great! As I said Leanne had a very fixed budget that we had to stick to. The challenge was to be more creative and precise in our purchases. The pieces had to be comfortable and practical, but also young, fashionable, inexpensive and versatile. We created quite a few new outfits for Leanne and had lots of fun! All the pieces were bought with the idea of mixing and matching endlessly and being able to go from college to work or to go out.
I also showed Leanne what a huge role asseccories can play in the way you look especially when you have limited time or budget.

Case Study 3
Heidi Bushell, Upper Kedron
Heidi is a company director, but apart from smart/ business wear her dress code allows her to wear smart casual clothes as well. She tends to wear a lot of black especially in winter and it can become a bit boring and predictable.
Heidi did not want to go out and buy a lot of new clothes straight away, but wanted to have a shopping trip with me that was more of a style session where she could try new and different things and also more colour. We also talked about the shapes that are most flattering for Heidi and tried different cuts of trousers and skirts. I showed her the brands that would give her the most value for money and the most versatility in terms of mixing and matching .We also tried different accessories. In the end Heidi bought a new pair of jeans, a white shirt, shoes and some accessories. The slim cut jeans on the after picture are more body flattering and high heels make her legs look longer. Blue and green colours on her necklace emphasize her big blue eyes. The chunky blue ring and bag make an outfit more modern and up-to date. The jeans, white shirt and heels can be worn with other clothes that Heidi already has in her wardrobe. For example , the jeans can be dressed up with a tailored jacket or dressed down with a bright T-shirt. The white shirt can be worn with a black or charcoal pencil skirt and high heels with a dress at night.
